Purple Heart

Steeped in symbolism and historical significance, Purple Heart is a deep rich tone that is perfect for the cool winter months ahead.

Like Majolica Blue, Purple Heart looks best in fabrics with texture or structure .. or both.  The military look works well with this colour, as does soft flowing fabrics such as silk.  Avoid the plain old jersey numbers, as the fabric will dull this magnificent colour.

Purple is quite a bold colour, so if you're a bit scardy pants to wear it head to toe, try purple accessories shoes or a belt.

Purple eyeshadow is particularly alluring, especially if you have green eyes.

MAC Cosmetics do some amazing purple eye shadows.  My favourites are Satellite Dreams or Purple Haze.

I know your natural reaction is to wear this shade with black, but as you know by now, I'm not such a fan of dulling down an outfit with a boring shade of black ... instead, try this combination...

It may be while before you see this shade in stores, as the initial autumn style drop usually focuses on the lighter shades of winter.

To prepare yourself for Purple Heart, why not watch The Colour Purple, listen to Purple Rain and eat purple plums!
