The Fragrance Whisperer

You want your man to smell nice, but which scent do you choose?  One of the most common requests I have is to suggest fragrances for men, so I thought since we're friends, I'd share my little list with you.


The fragrance counter in most department stores can be quite daunting if you don't know what you are looking for.  Very quickly all masculine fragrances start to smell the same and you feel like you are at a cheesy salesman convention *cough cough*.


Matching the 'type' of fragrance to your man is the real challenge, so I have unscrupulously devised my own categories to describe the types of fragrances that will suit the different types of men. 


Pretty Young Thing
Suitable for young, sporty, arty, creative types.  These breezy fragrances are perfect for everyday or casual occasions.   My top picks for this category are:

Everyday Chic
This category is the most versatile and is suitable for most men as an everyday, subtle, clean scent.  Perfect for the office, family occasions, brunch with friends, or when you want your man to smell nice and not too overdone.   My top picks for this category are:

Mature Mister
This is not just for Dad or Professor types, this category of fragrance is sophisticated, mature and has an old gentleman's club, dusty books, tobacco and leather feel about it.  Perfect for serious professions, evenings or dapper occasions.   My top picks for this category are:

Uber Sexy
This category is for men who are fabulous, care about fashion, use more hair product than you do and have enough charisma to carry off an intense and unique fragrance.  The fragrances I have chosen for this category and mysterious and grrrr sexy.  Kind of what I imagine Bear Grylls to smell like, you know, when he's clean.   My top picks for this category are:

Of course, anyone can wear any fragrance, this list is simply a starting point if you are lost and bewildered in a sea of fragrance vapor.
