A Dress For All Seasons

I know it's mid July, it's freezing and we still have some time before we thaw out in the sunshine of Spring, but now is the time to start thinking about the six months ahead and planning your wardrobe.  Relax, no need for the head slap, what this simply means is that any item you look at or contemplate purchasing over the coming weeks has to be versatile enough to take you right into summer.

One of my mantras as a stylist, is that each piece of clothing you own should be wearable for at least 3 out of the 4 seasons.  This opens up your wardrobe to endless possibilities.   Obviously there are some items that are only winter (coats, scarves, gloves) and some items that are only summer (bathing suits, sandals, shorts), but most other items in between can be multi purposed to offer variety and ultimately great value for money.

Take dresses for example.  When looking for a dress, choose a style that can be layered for warmth and converted into a cool spring time look.  One of the dresses I'm loving at the moment is this striped jersey dress from French Connection that can be layered for winter and worn off the shoulder for summer.
