Picture Perfect

What a fabulous day I had yesterday.

My photographer friend Louise Treacy and I set off to the beautiful Abbotsford convent for a photo shoot.  Quite the average day for a photographer and a stylist you might think.  But no, this was not the type of photo shoot that either of us are used to.  The subjects were *cough* us!

Louise is a professional photographer, and much more comfortable behind the camera, and me, well I am much more comfortable choosing the clothing, hair and make-up and making sure each of these things is perfect for each shot.  Not surprisingly, we were both very very nervous.

Our mission was to secure some updated shots for our websites, so we battled through the pain, embarrassment and very chilly weather (thank goodness you can photoshop out goose bumps) to capture some colourful, natural and whimsical photos.

Many of the shots were of us laughing, being silly or pulling awkward faces.  Hats off to all the models who do this for a living, it's quite nerve wracking!  I was a little overwhelmed using Louise's fabulous camera too.  It was like driving the starship enterprise!

Let me tell you a little bit about Louise ...
I first met Louise when I contacted her to take my head shots for my website.  Although she specialises in newborn, baby and child photography, there was something about her aesthetic, use of light and eye for detail that impressed me, and after talking to and looking at many other photographers, I couldn't get Louise's visual brilliance out of my head.  So, I contacted her and asked if she would consider photographing a rather large, and somewhat immature child ... me!

Louise is so warm and friendly that I can see how she manages to inspire her subjects and create some truly remarkable shots.

An all too familiar sight for those of you who know me personally ...
