Having had horses for most of my life, I am quite partial to the odd piece of leather harness. I love the idea of wearing harness as a fashion piece, but walking around with my bridle draped over my shoulder doesn't really look that fashionable. Surprisingly.
Thankfully there are clever designers out there doing wonderful things with harness. And they don't smell like horse.
Wear them instead of a belt, as jewellery piece or to make a statement. I like it best when a harness is paired with something simple and sophisticated, like the images seen here of model Abbey Lee Kershaw for Vogue Russia (April 2011).
Although you are unlikely to find a harness in the accessory section of your local store, there are plenty of ways to get your hands on one if you so desire.

My fave is New York based designer Zana Bayne. Did you know: Her fabulous, hand crafted designs were recently seen on Lady Ga Ga's backup dancers. (click here for pictures).
Of course harnesses do not have to be made from leather. Zana Bayne does amazing rubber harness pieces and ASOS show that you can get the same feel from finer materials such as jewellery.
How do you feel about harnesses? Is it something you can see yourself wearing?
Let me know your thoughts.
