I had the pleasure a short time back to meet Melbourne based artist Nico Wilsdon. Creating under his brand 'Bearded Iris Studio', Nico is an accomplished milliner, fashion designer, graphic illustrator and textile designer. He has also designed and produced costumes for various theatre productions. That's right, there isn't much this talented artist doesn't do!
Hailing from Adelaide, Nico studied fine arts at QUT where he graduated with honours. Nico moved to Melbourne three years ago to engage with the bustling art & fashion community.
Nico's work reflects his pleasure in creating beautiful things. His inspiration comes from a desire to transfer emotion into product with a playful and self-assured quality.

MILLINERY
Nico lovingly creates his millinery pieces with the special care and attention expected from a handmade bespoke item. Each piece has a playful sense of humour. His creations have been worn by socialites and featured in the weekend Australian. With the races just around the corner, I have no doubt his fabulous hats will be snapped up. FASHION DESIGN
Nico has a deep appreciation for the history of garments and tries to create memorable pieces that will be cherished and loved. The images here are from the La Metamorpheuse collection that was initially inspired by Virginia Woolf's novel Orlando and were created to reflect the evolution of physical and spiritual states of a human being over a period of time.
