Excuse Me .. Did You Know It's Christmas Soon?

Whoopsie.  Last night I had a sudden flash of panic when I realised that Christmas is a mere 2 weeks away.

Time to decide where we are spending Christmas day.  Time to decide what gifts to buy.  Time to buy a bucket, fill it with sand and insert my head.

Buying gifts can be difficult.  Especially, if like me, you want the recipient to unwrap your gift and declare that it is the best gift they have ever received in their entire life and that I must be adored, knighted or at the very least, have a statue erected in my honor.

That's a lot of pressure.

Thankfully on both sides of my family, we now engage in a kris kringle arrangement.  I have gone from buying 18 gifts to just 4, (not including my 3 little nieces).  That's a massive reduction in my stress levels.  And a huge reduction in my spending.  Sorry retailers.  In my defense, since the rise and rise of the sale culture, especially Christmas sales, you provide me with no incentive to buy full priced items.  Far too often over the years, the items I have purchased have been reduced in price 3.5 seconds after I have purchased them!  It makes me pull on my cranky pants!

I have come to realise that my issue with gift buying is not a lack of ideas.  In fact, I have no shortage of ideas for fabulous gifts to buy.   My issue is that the people on my recipient list do not match the gifts I have in mind.

Let me give you an example.

For Christmas, my Mother wants some covers for her golf clubs.
Very practical, very acceptable and more importantly, they are exactly what she wants.
They are not pretty, do not smell nice, will not make her lips look luscious nor will they go great with jeans.

In summary:  WHY CAN'T PEOPLE JUST WANT WHAT I WANT!!
This would certainly make my shopping easier.  kthxbai.
