The Hunt for a Great Tote

I always need to carry stuff.

In addition to my standard handbag staples, I always seem to have other stuff to carry like magazines, bits and pieces to give  back to people, notebooks, fabric swatches, sketchbook etc.  So naturally I am always on the hunt for a fun and stylish tote.

When my friend, designer Nico Wilsdon showed me his textile design entitled 'The Hunt' and told me of his plans to locally produce a fabulous tote bag, I got excited!

Finally a tote bag that I actually like!

His print design was inspired by palaeolithic-age cave paintings found in Lascaux, France.  Wild horses, Deer and other mammals were illustrated in pigment across the walls and ceilings of a grotto.

The design was hand drawn by Nico, making the print unique.  The design has been hand printed in Melbourne and sewn by the designer himself on his premises - you could not get more local or bespoke if you tried!  Plus, Nico has bound each heavy cotton bag with cotton tape for extra durability.

I just love Nico's designs.  If you do too, feel free to pop over to his website  http://beardedirisstudio.com/ ,
or his online store http://beardedirisstudio.bigcartel.com/.

Nico is a fashion, textile and graphic designer, and I hope to share more of creations with you soon.

update;   Just spoke to Nico, and this collection is selling fast.  He also tells me a whole batch of new designs / colours is on the way.
