Vintage Winter Warmers

I love winter.  I don't like being cold, but I do like rugging up, and my vintage coat collection is just the ticket to keep me toasty in the moths to come.

I've never bought a 'good' coat.  I could never justify the money for an item that I would most likely be sick of after a few months.  I tire of things rather quickly, especially if my choice is limited.  Gosh I must sound quite spoiled!  I think it has more to do with my [undiagnosed] OCD / ADD or whatever neurosis I suffer from!  Therefore my motto is:  Why limit yourself to just one good coat, when you can have many!  Vintage coats allow me to have great quality, unique coats at a fraction of the price I'd expect to pay for a new one.

I recently culled my vintage collection to just seven coats.  Don't for one minute think I am being sensible; I culled the tatty, well worn items in order to open up some cupboard space should another vintage gem take my fancy.

Park It Here Luv

If you have been anywhere near a shopping centre over the past few weeks, you have undoubtedly spied four-hundred-million styles of parkas in stores.

Let me say from the get go, before I show you how to wear them, that parkas are not for everyone.  They are bulky and sometimes puffy and will add visual weight to the wearer.  This is an example of one of those trends that you should choose carefully.

If you need a parka purely for warmth - like sitting on the sidelines at a sporting event - then grab yourself the biggest puffiest one you can find my friend, however if you are looking for a fashionable addition to your winter wardrobe, my advice is to think about your frame and how you are going to wear it before you purchase.

Here are some of my ideas for how to wear your parka ...

Eatin' Fake Food Under Plastic Trees

Now that I have my new 70's haircut, I have become even more 70's obsessed if that's possible.

I started school in 1973, so I spent much of my childhood listending to Zepplin, AC/DC, wearing flares, conte's, staggers jeans, treads, miller shirts and basically having a groovy ol' time, which is I suppose why this era resonates so well with me. (and yes, that's little ol' me in my miller shirt circa 1976).

ps:  Did you know that Staggers Jeans are still around?   www.staggersjeans.com.au

Have you seen the new Chloe Love fragrance ad?   70's glamour in all it's glory.  The fragrance however is a little like Charlie & Cie had a love child.  *cough cough* not a fan.

Naturally, I'm loving the 70's influenced fashion around at the moment.  Here's some outfits to give you a little 70's inspiration ...

 .....................................................................................................................................

If you want get yourself a little 70's style, don't feel the need to deck yourself head to toe in full 70's glam as shown here and sharpie dance everywhere.  Simply spice up your look with one a great pair of clogs, a groovy satin blouse, a floppy sun hat, a jumpsuit, a 70's inspired handbag or a 70's haircut!

Peace out.
