Rudie Nudie

Call it nude or neutral, fact is, stores will be brimming with soft shades this spring.  So which shade is right for you?  When shopping for a nude shade, the important thing to remember is that you don't actually want to look like you are naked, (well most of us don't), so choosing the right shade of nude for your skin is very important.

Although there are many different skin tones, for the purpose of this post, I'm going to simplify skin shades into four basic shades:  Fair, Medium, Olive and Dark.

Also, for the purpose of simplicity, I have classed all nude shades into five groups:

The basic rule of thumb when choosing this trend is that the shade of nude should be visibly different from your skin tone.

Here's an example:  On this fair skin, it is easy to see that pink beige and cream blend into the skin tone and make this faux person with only vaguely realistic skin tone look naked.  It may be a simulation, but you get the idea!

But wait, there's more ....

Love it on the olive & dark skin, not so much on the fair and medium skin.

Looks good on all except the fair skin.

Eeww - that medium skin really does look naked!  Great on all others.

Good on all skins except olive who looks like she's a bit ill.

Ahhhh - a neutral that really does suit everyone.  A nice safe choice if you're a scardy cat.
