Finding Your Own Style

I believe that your clothes should reflect who you are as a person.  Maybe this is why I had such an issue with wearing a school uniform.  "This uniform is like, totes stifling my self expression!"  And why I am fussy today about my clothes not looking too serious or grown up.

With any style or trend that you are thinking about trying, it is important that it match your personality.   For example, there is no point trying a relaxed, informal style if you are formal by nature (and vice versa).  To truly feel comfortable in your own skin, your style should reflect your natural character and therefore be easy and effortless to put together and wear.

How do you find your true style?
I have a theory.
Not the ususal 'based in fact, conducted lots of research' type of theory, but a half baked, tongue in cheek, based on my own opinion type of theory that I'm sticking to nonetheless!

Ready?  Here goes.

To find your own style, take note of both your interior decorating preferences and how you cut your vegetables to cook dinner.  Yep, vegetables.  My theory is this ... how you decorate your house and how you cut up your vegetables are great indicators to your natural style.  Don't laugh yet, I have an example ...

My sister cuts all of her vegetables into identical sized portions.  When serving, each item on the plate has its own space and never touches the other food.  Her house is also neat, tidy and everything has its place.  Her fashion style is similar.  Neat, tidy, with an attendtion to detail.

Me - I'm a lot more haphazzard with my vegetables and go for the rustic, skins on, thrown all together kind of style.  My house is a mix of vintage and industrial, with an emphasis on imperfection.  My fashion style is also a little happhazard.  I like to throw things together and see what happens.

Ergo - our natural styles are apparant in far more areas of our lives than just fashion.  Ta Daa!

If my theory served no other purpose, I bet it got you thinking about how you cut your vegetables.

Whatever fashion style you choose is fine, because it's all about YOU!  Be true to your own personality and yes, you can push your boundaries, but the most important thing is to feel comfortable in your own personal style. xx

(You know I really should patent this theory.  I wonder if I could sell it?   I bet people would pay cents for it!)
