Flatforms

My wish to the shoe fairy has been answered.   My love for platforms shoes has been combined with my love for comfort in this Spring's fabulous shoe trend .. the FLATFORMS.

I have many many pairs of platform shoes, and my motto is the higher the better.  I stand at 185cm in my favourite pair, which is perfect for those times my hair is in desperate need of colour or I need to reach the top shelf in the supermarket.

Flatforms made an appearance on the Spring 11 runways.  Prada, Derek Lam, Marc Jacobs, Vena Cava, Fendi  (to name but a few) all featured the amazing new flatforms.

As with most new trends, the idea is not new.  Our little Goth friends have been wearing flat platform shoes for years, and any of you old enough to remember the awesomeness of the 70's, will certainly remember heeled brogues and chunky platform shoes.

The reinvention of this coming season's flatforms sees the shoe take on a more sleek appearance.  I am really loving the platform brogues which will team perfectly with your ankle grazing jeans or pants.

Contrary to popular belief, it is very hard to fall over in a flat platform shoe.  (Take it from someone who has made falling over into a semi professional career).  The base is stable and once you get used to way platform shoes 'rock' instead of bend with your foot, three centimeters taller Bob is your uncle!

If you like the idea of adding a few centimeters but not a fan of heels, then the Spring flat platforms are for you.   I cannot wait until our local shoe stores have them for sale.  No really, I cannot wait ... I'll be ordering mine from OS post haste!

  1. The Nelly ones are cute, but still don't know if I'll go for this look, I think it could make me look stumpy. Just saw that you were at Take 2, I KNEW I should have gone to that market... oh well, next time...
