Stonnington Fashion Forum

As Part of Stonnington Fashion, I attended the Fashion Industry Forum breakfast this morning.

Although I love working in fashion, my heart will always belong to retail, so I was particularly thrilled that the topic of today's discussion was fashion retailing and the fashion business in general.

If you are new to the industry, forums like these are great for giving you the impetus to seek further education or experience.

Oldies too can find joy in the opinions and ideas of others.  (And by oldies, I mean experienced).

On the panel were:

  1. Fashion designer and retailer Arthur Galan.
  2. Executive Director of the Australian Centre for Retail Studies at Monash University, Colin McLeod.
  3. Social Media superstar, Kristen Boschma
  4. Merchandise Planner, Nick Hobley

Not to play favourites, but Kristen Boschma was amazing.  I wanted to sit at her feet like a child and have her tell me stories.  Smart cookie that one.

The assembled panel was well chosen.  All were great communicators and I dare say if the event were to be extended, each of them could have easily filled the time!  Not that I'm complaining. I thoroughly enjoy listening to established professionals share their insights.

I do have to take this opportunity to plug Arthur Galan stores.
I often take my clients to AG.  Sure, the product is great, but the service I consistently receive is fabulous!  After meeting Arthur Galan, it is easy to see why.  He is passionate about his brand and he would be a very inspiring person to work for.  One of the points he raised during the discussion was that he believes all staff should be aware of and therefore share the vision of the company.  Too true!

Next time you see an event like this pop up, why not treat yourself to a little motivation for breakfast.  Much better for you than food I say!

What's the best forum you've attended?
