I will always love and appreciate the way fashion is continually reinvented. The best thing about looking into the past is finding little gems of fashion such as this picture of my gorgeous Mum (taken in the late 60's) in her magnificent printed skirt.
Pictures like this make me want to hold onto all of my clothes forever to pass onto my niece's children.
Pity this practice is also known as hoarding. My husband's grandmother was a hoarder. She kept every piece of clothing she ever bought. When she died, I was gifted garbage bags full of amazing vintage clothes, some with tags still attached, and I love wearing them to this day.
I think we need to rethink this whole hoarding thing, and call it something much more positive. Like "I'm not hoarding, I'm curating future fashion collections" perhaps?
LOVE me a printed skirt...! The Gorman one is my fav... I also love your philosophy - I often think about things I cannot wait to give my daughter and hope I don't get too eager and pass them on to my god-daughter first! Wouldn't want my own blood to miss out on anything now! ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks. There is so much of my Mum's and Grandmothers clothes I wish I had now. We owe it to our future generations to hoard clothes!!!
ReplyDeleteFinally, of course, we still see the importance of clothing in fashion. Some might argue that we have never been more fashion conscious than is currently the case
